Saint Laurent Show Men’s Spring Summer 24Berlin2023

The National Gallery by Mies van der Rohe in Berlin is a key icon of modern architecture, set like a temple above the horizon of the city. CMK’s runway project for Saint Laurent Men’s show enhanced aspects of this remarkable building by adding temporary insertions. In creating a noteworthy space for this fashion event, the project added further to this architecturally significant location.

Working with the scale and existing spatial grandeur, dark monumental curtains simultaneously announced the event in the cityscape and concealed it. The curtains create a sanctuary enveloping the show and sheltering it. Inside this inner space, large-scale marble surfaces meet the iconic gridded building frame. A singular powerful light floods the space, like a gigantic sunset against the backdrop of the city at dusk.
